There are very few glitter eyeshadows I’m crazy about—but this L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Black easily tops my list. Who would’ve thought… this drugstore gem is easy to apply and doesn’t fade or crease. I purchased this on a whim at Walmart for the sake of… well, glitter. I figured Thanksgiving would be an appropriate time to test it out. I used a dab of Laura Mercier Eye Basics (I like this primer because it conceals any discoloration around the eye) and then I used my ring finger to apply eternal black, starting from the center and blending up to the crease. I kept applying until I achieved my desired look. For a smoky effect, I applied Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner on my top and bottom lash line (I also like Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil). And don’t worry about trying to make a thin line, in fact, I prefer messy. Finally, I applied two coats of Estee Lauder’s new Sumptous Infinite Daring Length + Volume Mascara which is not out yet (but coming soon in 2014!) to complete the look. And yes, now I have 24 tubes of mascara. What do you think?

I used to be that girl that would comb through every glitter smokey eye tutorial in every magazine, hoping I would find that secret tip or trick to give me that flawless smokey eye look. Truth is I never found it. If you’ve never tried glitter eyeshadow, lemmetellya… it’s super messy. And covering up any mistakes? Forget about it! After endless YouTube video plays, countless glitter shadow testing and brush hunting, I finally figured it out. The secret to a sultry glitter smokey eye has has nothing to do with finding the “right” product but everything to do with technique. Of course, a product that actually delivers is definitely a factor but we all know, practice makes perfect. So don’t expect perfection the first time you try it. And I highly recommend test driving the look before your night on the town. You can check out my step-by-step guide to a glitter smokey eyes on Glitter Guide here.
