Last year it was all about the naked lip. This season, expect to see plenty of deep reds, rich marsalas, dramatic bronzed nudes, and dusty pinks.
I usually lean towards nudes and pinks, but there’s a part of me that wants to step out of my comfort zone and based on my recent trip to Walgreens, I was able to do just that. I took four Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks for a test drive. From daytime demure to bold beauty, check out my Revlon beauty must-haves under $9.
For a daytime fall look, I’m going to keep Mauvy Night (creme finish) in my handbag at all times. That slightly darker lip shade just works for basically every occasion. I’ve discovered Wine With Everything will take you from desk to drinks. Fuchsia Fusion (pearl finish) and Certainly Red (creme) are perfect shades for date night. In addition to rich lip shades, defined eyes and rosy cheeks are also trending this fall. To complete my fall makeup look, I opted for a neutral taupe shadow, black gel eyeliner and a couple coats of mascara—simple, classic and gives your pout the attention it deserves.
Shopping for a drugstore lipstick can be overwhelming but just remember— the most flattering lip tone will be one or two shades darker than your natural lip color.

As much as I love summer, a tinted balm hardly makes a beauty statement compared to a rich, full-bodied lipstick in the fall. Check out my post on Glitter Guide, featuring the hottest fall trends and the best fall lipstick shades.
These picks are tried and true and I did my best to include of a variety of price points. I’d love to hear what you think!
Last night I descended downtown to Neiman Marcus’ Beauty and the Blogger event. Basically, my version of happy hour. From 6-8, I sipped on champagne and noshed on deelish sugar cookies while I counter hopped between my favorite lux beauty lines (think Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, and more) to catch up on the latest and greatest fall beauty and skincare trends. My favorite discovery from the night: Deborah Lippmann Jewel Heist collection for fall; six holographic jewel tones of gold, emerald and sapphire. From smooth cremes to subtle shimmers and mega-glitters, there are countless ways to incorporate all of these in to your fall mani wardrobe.
I love that metallic makeup is trending this season. First, Estee Lauder’s fall limited edition and now Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow. I’m in makeup heaven! This one-of-a-kind, buildable, high-metallic cream eye shadow delivers a striking foil finish. Don’t let the word “metal” frighten you or your eco-friendly philosophy—these shadows are formulated without sulfates and phthalates. Available in 12 shades, from demure to dramatic, these new eye shadows come with a teeny tiny Stay All Day Liquid Eye Primer to prep and prime lids for a long-lasting adhesive finish. The mixing tray also makes it easy to use and apply before embarking on your next piece of eye art work.
Here’s an easy step-by-step tutorial on how to use these metallic goodies:
Add two drops of eye primer to mixing tray.
Add a small dab of magnificent metals to mixing tray.
Swirl primer and shadow together.
Use the tip of your finger to gentle press mixture onto center of lid.

Come September, for girls who don’t “blush easy,” Benefit Beauty will release their latest addition to their box o’ powders collection with, Rockateur, a rose gold cheek powder that is anything but sweet and subtle. Consider it a baked blush with a pretty mix of pink, beige and brown with warm undertones and a satiny shimmer finish. My collection of Benefit powders has grown over the last year but to this day, I use them regularly. Hervana (a medley of shell, peach, rose, and berry) is my cloud nine blush and daytime go-to but I’ve recently started stashing this new baby in my clutch for nights on the town. Just like the other powders, I prefer swirling the mini brush around a couple times, tapping once to remove any excess and then applying on the apples of my cheeks and temples. Just a little bit more blending results in a more glow-inducing look that I just can’t live without.
