Yesterday I did something I haven’t done in quite some time. I got a manicure. I know what you’re thinking, but I usually do my own nails at home. It saves me time and money. But I *cringe* every time I have to file my nails. Somehow it’s manageable at the nail salon, not so much when I do it.
I opted for Essie’s For The Twill of It and was pretty happy with the results. It’s a rich maple brown (except you wouldn’t think so looking at it) with a reflective olive green shimmer. When I got home, I went on a nail polish internet binge—looking for any and all polishes like this one. This metallic/chrome/reflective polish is like the new neutral.
Here are more chrome nail polish hues you should totally get on board with:
Sure, I like to pin pretty nail art but when it comes to my schedule, I rarely have time for DIY nail projects. Last week I took a risk and surprisingly my *subtle* nail art looked pretty darn good if I say so myself. I applied two coats of OPI polish in “Man Repeller” (courtesy of BrandlinkDC) for a pinkish/nude base. I don’t have time for tooth picks and paint brushes so I decided to wing it and try gold tips with Deborah Lippmann in “Fake It Til You Make It.” It was obviously much harder swiping the brush on my right hand compared to my left but somehow it worked. Now that I’ve conquered a twist on french tips, maybe it’s time to move on to the next level. What mani are you wearing today?
As much as I love a good mani, finding the time (and patience) for a good DIY nail look can be difficult to incorporate in to my super busy, never-have-time-for-anything-but-work-and-blog lifestyle. But I find myself on Pinterest gawking at these amazing fall nail ideas and my interest peaks. Maybe if I bring my polish and tools to work I can do it during my lunch hour…
Check out some fall nail ideas totally worth trying in your office cube!
I did a post a few weeks back for Glitter Guide on the ultimate nail polish guide that I wanted to share with you all (aka read something I’ve already written). I dunno if it’s just me but for the longest time I was always so indecisive about staple nail colors (think reds, pinks and nudes). It couldn’t be just any red it had to this kind of red. You know what I mean? And glitter and metallic nail finishes are easy go-to nail trends that should be in every girl’s polish wardrobe. Enjoy!
Last night I descended downtown to Neiman Marcus’ Beauty and the Blogger event. Basically, my version of happy hour. From 6-8, I sipped on champagne and noshed on deelish sugar cookies while I counter hopped between my favorite lux beauty lines (think Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, and more) to catch up on the latest and greatest fall beauty and skincare trends. My favorite discovery from the night: Deborah Lippmann Jewel Heist collection for fall; six holographic jewel tones of gold, emerald and sapphire. From smooth cremes to subtle shimmers and mega-glitters, there are countless ways to incorporate all of these in to your fall mani wardrobe.
