Aliza Licht is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter (her @DKNYPRGirl handle boasts close to half a million followers but I also love reading her tweets from @AlizaLicht). Why? Because she’s not afraid to say what most people are thinking. I also love her live-tweets during Revenge and Scandal. And her bad ass blog. Aliza’s witty and honest posts have made her a household name in the fashion and social media industry (she recently just scored a book deal!), so it was no surprise she drew quite a crowd to Tysons Galleria for her meet and greet. Aliza is such a sweetheart in person. (I know some of my readers are aware I used to work for a magazine in DC, but I can’t tell you how many times I interviewed jaded, rude, impatient notables.) I can tell she genuinely LOVES her job and mentoring young people. I had five minutes with the social media maven and luxury publicist before her Q&A session. We chatted about her days living in the DMV (the UMD grad reminisced going to Sante Fe and shopping in Georgetown), career advice and of course, beauty.
A while back, I created a board on Pinterest, paying homage to beautiful redheads everywhere. I was inspired to go red, like really red. Except the ‘really‘ part scared me. The two weeks leading up to my color appointment at Sassoon Salon at Tysons Galleria, I was pinning up a storm. Celeb hair color became my daily obsession. I daydreamed about pulling off a Julianne Moore or Florence Welch paprika red, but I wasn’t sure I could pull it off (except my trusted colorist and Sasson’s color director, Jade DelProposto-Thornton thought so). After some discussion, we mutually agreed to go Amy Adams red (a pretty deeper shade of red that would be an easier and more subtle transition for me).
I’m not going to lie, I was still extremely nervous about the transition! But Jade made me feel super comfortable and calmed my nerves. Truth be told, aside from my highlights in the spring (another fabulous hair treatment by Jade), I haven’t colored my hair in eons so the process felt pretty new to me. Following the hair dye application and sitting under a chair for a little bit, I was whisked away to get my hair washed and a quick color treatment (to help prolong the red). Jade told me red is the hardest to maintain so touch-ups will be necessary (and of course using shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair). Post treatment, I met up with Allison Lyle (creative director for Sassoon and the talented hairstylist who cut my hair last time) for a blow dry and quick bang trim. She is a true wiz at making my hair look sleek and polished. Sassoon also gifted me with the Chanel of hair care lines, Kerastase shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair. Seriously, if you want a great color and/or haircut, get your head of hair to Sassoon.
OK, enough rambling! Check out my new look after the jump!
I had so much fun hosting the Neiman Marcus Beauty event and breakfast at Tysons Galleria. I invited my best girl friends, bloggers and beauty fanatics to talk all things hair, makeup, nails and skincare. Yes, it was an early wake-up call but I really appreciate all the lovely ladies who came to support me and hear about my favorite products for fall. Check out some snapshots from the event below!
Just a few of my favorite lux beauty buys for fall: Chanel Les Beiges (it has such a velvety smooth texture), Armani Beauty Rouge Ecstasy (the first CC lipstick to hit the market!) and Diorshow mascara (a long-time favorite).
Earlier this year, I made the resolution to transform my severe spending ways in to a penny pincher lifestyle. Lucky for my bank account, I can actually afford to pay my bills. Unfortunately, not so lucky for my friends, Michael (Kors), Rebecca (Taylor) and Tory (Burch). Then came along this fun blogger challenge with Tysons Galleria and it restored my faith in fashion (without hurting my wallet).
Tysons Galleria recently launched an incentive for my fellow shopaholic Washingtonians. If you sign up between now and April 30th for the Tysons Galleria Club Membership, you’ll be automatically entered to win a $5,000 shopping spree, and your favorite blogger (ahem) could win a $750 gift card! The membership is free and gives you access to exclusive promotions including retail and restaurant offers, the hottest deals and valuable discounts at your favorite stores and upcoming events (think trunk shows, designer appearances and charity events). You can sign up using this link here!
If you’ve never visited Tysons Galleria… well, you are missing out my fellow shopaholics! Tysons Galleria is my shopping sanctuary. Combining the best of retail (Intermix, J.Crew and Michael Kors to name a few) with great eats (Wildfire, The Cheesecake Factory and my latest obsession Paul Bakery), my shopping experiences there have been nothing short of luxurious (and peace and quiet).
I can’t stop daydreaming about what I would buy if I won a $750 gift card to Tysons Galleria… these are just a few items that would be at the top of my list…
Henri Bendel Whitney Wrap Bracelet, $128; Michael Kors Medium Selma Messenger, $228; J Brand Exclusive Mint Cut-off in mint, $160 (available at Intermix); Chanel Precision Eyelash Curler, $34 (available at Saks Fifth Avenue); Clarisonic Mia2, $149 (available at Neiman Marcus); Bond No. 9 The Scent of Peace, $180 (available at Saks Fifth Avenue); all items are available at Tysons Galleria

Last Friday I attended the VIP Runway Show to kick-off All Access Fashion at Tysons Galleria. This year’s show was presented by Intermix, the latest high-end boutique to join the Tysons clan in mid-October and hosted by Eric Daman, costume designer for the hit CW series Gossip Girl and The Carries Diaries. I was obsessed with multiple looks that came down the runway, especially burgundy leather pants, cozy layered sweaters and pretty pointy toe pumps. But rather than letting me describe to you my long fall wish-list, I recorded the final walk for your viewing pleasure. Let me know what’s on your fall wish list!
