As much as I love snow days, romantic nights by the fire and curling up with a good book, winter can take a toll on my skin. Around the holidays cold weather is nice but post-New Year, I’m ready for spring. We’ve got at least a couple months before it starts to get warm again so in the mean time I thought I’d share my winter beauty essentials. From a new soothing eye gel to a hybrid texturizing and dry shampoo hairspray, I’ve rounded up my skin, makeup and hair products that I can’t live without this season.
Eyes:
Benefit unveiled a new product, Puff Off! (they always come up with such clever names!), a soothing eye gel that de-puffs tired eyes. I’ve been using this with my Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener instantly brightens my under eye area every morning, not to mention hides my dark circles. My once massive mascara wardrobe has dwindled down to two lash stunners: CoverGirl Clump Crusher Extensions and Lancome Grandiose Mascara. The Lancome one definitely adds drama to my limp lashes at night but it is a little clumpy. I don’t care though—it looks like I have babydoll lashes when I use this wand.
A while back I posted a quick preview to a new Priming Moisturizer from Glossier, a new line dreamt up by Emily Weiss—founder of the Vogue of beauty blogs, Into the Gloss. It’s been almost a month since I purchased this product and I’m circling back to let you know it’s totally worth every penny. In fact—I’m a little mad at myself for not ordering the entire Phase 1 set because it’s just that good. The Priming Moisturizer has a cushiony texture, making it the perfect canvas for fresh, glowing skin. It has completely replaced my drugstore gel moisturizer during the day thanks to its ability to minimize any redness and the appearance of my (sometimes, large) pores. Not to mention, it just makes me want to touch my face all day long! Seriously, I have never experienced a primer that makes you think makeup is optional. And let’s not forget the ultra cute DIY package—stickers! Rainbows, lipsticks and all things happy-go-lucky lets you customize your product however you like. The Balm Dotcom is next on my to-buy list because if their primer made my face feel and look great, then my lips are in desperate need of a comeback too.
When someone throws out the words “dewy and glowy” in the same sentence, my response is, “what, where and how much?” I’m a sucker for products that promise that lit from within glow. When I read Emily’s letter on Into the Gloss and her thought process behind Glossier, a new and innovative beauty brand dreamt up by the brains behind the Vogue of beauty blogs, I knew it had to be good. I really don’t have much to say other than I can’t WAIT to try their Priming Moisturizer. Not to mention, their packaging looks pretty cool too. I’ll patiently have my fiancé wait by the door these next few days for my next beauty delivery in hopes its everything I imagined it to be. Stay tuned for a review in the coming weeks!
