I’m really lazy when it comes to my eye makeup (and lately, blogging, but we’ll save that for another day). I prefer to tell people it’s my ‘no makeup makeup look,” but let’s be real. I’m totally taking embracing a lazy girl makeup routine. When I’m getting ready for work I opt for a one-step eyeshadow, a couple coats of mascara, tinted moisturizer and a cream blush. Want to know the secret to my five-minute look? I’ve been reaching for Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Sticks, a primer shadow base and eye shadow in one quick and easy application. I like to pack the shadow directly from the stick on my lid and blend with a fluffy shadow brush. Paired with primer or no primer, I find that this creamy shadow really lasts all day. I’ve got Plum and Smokey Quartz (discontinued) in my makeup arsenal but I want them all!
I’d love to know, do you have a lazy girl makeup routine? If so, what’s your secret?
P.S. Right now at Ulta, you can scoop up Open Up Eyeliner in Black with any $40 Mally Beauty purchase through the end of the month.
Lately I have been on a serious eyeshadow palette shopping binge. For Christmas, my sister gifted me with the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (I’m still undecided on whether I like it or love it). To be honest, I’m still trying to wrap my head around why this palette is $52. $52!! Would you ever spend $52 on an eyeshadow palette? I’ve searched for daytime and nighttime tutorials using the palette, watched a bevy of them, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to achieve the look those gorgeous YouTube vloggers are creating. It also doesn’t come with a guide to some example looks, which also kind of pushes my buttons. Plus, the thought of deciding between 12 matte, satin and shimmer shades is overwhelming (especially if you stick to really simple eye makeup routines), so it led me to this round-up for Glitter Guide: pretty (and simple) drugstore eyeshadow palettes for a fraction of the price. The eyeshadows I picked up at Walmart and CVS were actually pretty phenomenal. Most of them didn’t crease (as long as you use the right primer) and they were all easy to blend (just invest in some nice brushes). You can read the full story here. What do you think about the Urban Decay Naked 3? Do you prefer eyeshadow trios and quads? Discuss.
With hot and humid temperatures on the rise (seriously, did we even have a spring?), I highly suggest swapping your powder shadows for easy creamy eyeshadow pigments like Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tints. These portable cream shadow sticks offer plenty of color without any heavy duty formula, not to mention never need sharpening.
These jumbo eye crayons come in 12 hues that are easy to layer and long-wearing (think an 8+ hour work day). Cream shadows are a must for hot and humid days because the fragrance free formula absorbs into skin, making sure these tints never melt off your face.
Lately I’ve been wearing Lavish Lilac (a soft lavender) that I sometimes layer with Portly Plum if I’m heading out for the night. Ample Amber (a bronzy pink) and Whopping Willow (a deep olive) are my favorite neutrals I love to pair for a day look. When I really want my eyes to pop, I’ll swipe complementary hues on my lids and lower lash line. There are so many looks you can create with these twist-up sticks, you’ll want to stock up on more than one!
