Last month, I was all about curing winter blues with some brighter than blue beauty products. This month, there’s nothing that puts me in the mood than celebrating the month of love with my red and pink inspired beauty products. From my favorite romantic eye palette to a moisturizing red lipstick to glowy pink cheeks, my beauty vanity is covered in a bevy of products that I’ve fallen in love with over the last few years.
This year’s Valentine’s Day is a little more special than the previous years. It’s our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple. We decided to celebrate on Saturday night and it just so happens that I’ll be reunited with my wedding hair and makeup artists to help me create my date night look. The Mr. is surprising me with the dinner location. What are your plans this Valentine’s Day?
I’ve been living with my fiancé for almost five months but yet somehow, our date nights are few and far between. He works in baseball so his summer schedule is busy and the complete opposite of my 9-5 gig. So when Rio Washingtonian reached out offering a complimentary date night package, I jumped at the opportunity.
I love getting ready for date night. Normally Curt sees me just wearing mascara, blush and a little tinted lippy but I decided to kick things up a notch for this outing. First and foremost, NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow for a pretty metallic finish, some MAC BB Prep + Prime for a little bit of coverage and hydration, sparkly peach-pink blush by NARS in Super Orgasm, and a spritz of my favorite summer perfume, Bobbi Brown Beach.
We headed to Rio Washingtonian in Gaithersburg for dinner for two at Café Deluxe. Before we started living together, we would meet up in Rio since it was halfway from his place and my place so it was nice to revisit this spot. Curt loves his craft beer and I love a good burger so this was the perfect place to dine-in. Following dinner, we enjoyed a paddle boat ride on the water. Curt did most of the peddling so I had fun. For him, it was a workout. Finally, I have a sweet tooth for cupcakes so we got desert at Lilly Magilly’s, a cute little cupcake spot right in the heart of Rio.
