Washing my face at night has always felt somewhat of a chore for me. While I cringe at the thought of wearing makeup to bed, keeping my skin hydrated and youthful is of the utmost importance to me. Cleansing helps manage PH levels of the skin and without it, our pores become clogged and it leads to a bevy of skin issues. I frequently get compliments on my soft glowing skin and there’s a good reason for that: Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water. This one-step hydrating facial cleanser is packed with skin-loving ingredients such as triple purified water (to instantly hydrate and help minimize irritation), vitamin B3 (known to restore and soften skin), vitamin C, and Hexylene Glycol (which helps dissolve makeup and kindly conditions skin). Wiping makeup off is easy—I apply a generous amount to a cotton pad and gently wipe around my face—no rinsing required! My complexion looks refreshed and my skin feels clean and soft without any trace of makeup residue. Cleansing no longer feels like a chore because this routine is equal parts refreshing and quick (and did I mention affordable?) My nighttime skin routine has turned in to the ultimate first aid beauty kit for a Polar Vortex. Considering a few years ago I barely spent any time taking off my makeup and applying anti-aging cream never crept in to my beauty routine (crazy, I know), I would say my nighttime skin routine has evolved for the better. Today I thought I would share my favorite winter skin essentials. I have a few different cleansing methods—just depends on the night of the week. If I’ve got time, I massage Fresh Soy Face Cleanser on my face (I love its refreshing cucumber scent). If I’m feeling lazy, I rely on Simple Radiance Cleansing Wipes to remove any dirt and makeup (no greasy/oily residue with these wipes). Lately I’ve been dealing with occasional pesky pimples so I dab The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil on my target area. It smells funky but I swear by this all-natural formula. I apply Shiseido Ultimune, a weightless powerful concentrate that protects my skin from environmental stressors. At night I prefer to mositurize with Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream. It’s heavier than most moisturizers but I wake up to a smooth complexion every morning. Hada Labo Tokyo Age Correcting Eye Cream is like a hybrid gel-cream that soaks in to my eye contour area easily (plus the price is totally right… under $22). There are a few different lip balms I’m using on a rotating basis but Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Overnight Lip Balm is like a stick of butter on my lips (minus the calories). It lasts all night without having to reapply. I also keep Library of Flowers Forget Me Not Coco Butter Hand Cream on my nightstand. The scent is soothing and since I started applying hand cream every night, I’m rarely dealing with ultra dry, cracked hands.
I’d love to hear about your favorite winter skin essentials. Leave me your picks in the comments section!
Tomorrow I will be bathing suit bound and I can’t wait! This weekend I’m going to soak up the Ft. Lauderdale sun and I won’t have to think about shoveling my sidewalk or digging out my car from so much snow. Yesterday I went to CVS to pick up some last minute essentials for my trip (you know, as if I don’t have any beauty products at home or anything). I’m trying to pack a small suitcase so I don’t have to check any luggage so that 3 fl oz. rule is lingering over me as I prepare for my trip. Here are some drugstore essentials I’ll be taking with me:
Simple Face Care Starter Kit: I religiously use their facial wipes but I realized my beloved luxe cleanser and moisturizer probably wouldn’t make it on the plane, so I purchased this trio: Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, Cleansing Wipes and Replenishing Rich Moisturizer; all under 3 fl. oz. (and under $7)! Continue reading “Drugstore Beauty: Travel Hair, Makeup & Skin Essentials”
