Lately my Glossier pink bubble wrap pouch is hoarding my favorite lip products and according to my recent Twitter poll, it has been requested to share what’s in my makeup pouch.
When I made the switch from wearing a crossbody bag to a classic tote for work, the real estate in my LV Neverfull nearly tripled—so much so that I struggled coming up with what to fill it with. And in case you’re wondering, I comfortably fit my small agenda, a card case, coin purse, checkbook and of course my Glossier pink pouch.
I heavily rely on the best moisturizing lip balms during the cold winter months. Usually insufferable chapped lips hit me in January when it’s really really cold but I’ve been sick this week and I find myself frequently reaching for some to keep my lips nice and soft.
I’m a tough critic when it comes to lip balms. First and foremost, they need to be moisturizing for a solid few hours (at least), they need to feel good on my lips (I hate that sticky, smothering feeling), and it’d be nice if they eliminate lip lines. Bonus points if I can get that Victoria’s Secret model pout. Hey a girl can dream right?!
As temperatures start to drop and iced coffees are swapped for piping hot cafecitos, the seasonal switch can also be applied to makeup. Shelve the summery reds and dusty pinks to make way for deep burgundys and velvety rich plums. My favorite newbies this season come from MAC’s brand new Liptensity collection – (L to R) Burnt Violet, Hellebore and Dionysus. The creamy formula has just the right amount of pigment and shine, allowing for buildable color (it can be as “hello, I’m here!” as you want). For day to day, I’m swapping my summer gloss for my old faithful standby, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Passion, which is the best balance of subtle color and balmy moisture I’ve found.

When it comes to my summer beauty routine, I like to keep things low-key but fresh and glow-y. I love indulging in a few luxe makeup products each season and my new YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush is the perfect way to splurge. This air-whipped, two-in-one formula highlights your best assets with a matte finish. Cream based blushes last so much longer than powder formulas too. In this post I’m wearing Fuchsia Desinvolte which I promise, is not as intense as it looks. Just swirl the applicator on the apples of your cheeks and blend quickly. If you’re looking for high impact lip color, dab the applicator and if you want a sheer finish, swipe a thin layer on your lips for a pretty pout.
Yesterday Glitter Guide asks me and a bevy of other bloggers to dish on our favorite signature lipstick. Having a signature lip color is great, but it’s how you treat what’s underneath for a long-lasting pout. Which brings me to my latest product review… Neiman Marcus recently gifted me with the Bliss Pout-o-matic Lip-Perfecting lip exfoliator, a device that revitalizes and smoothes lips. Rather than opting for your usual (read: manual) lip scrub, this exfoliating tool is like DIY spa treatment 2.0. It comes with their signature Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub (a sweet vanilla scent), a replacement brush head and a battery. I covered my lips with the polishing scrub and turned on the brush to wipe away flakes and dead skin. The first time I played with this tool I was caught off guard by the vibrating sensation you get on your lips but 10-15 seconds in (you use the exfoliator for 30 seconds), it feels invigorating and you can definitely feel it working. The final look: smooth, kissable lips. I recommend using this lip exfoliator once or twice a week (depending on how chapped/dry they are) and moisturizing with your favorite lip balm after. And then you’ll want to make out with your significant other. Because nothing is sexier than soft lips (and your favorite signature lipstick).
