As a beauty blogger, I’m frequently blessed with the opportunity to visit salons and spas all over the District and write about them for the blog. You don’t need to tell me that I’m totally spoiled! My biggest and best cheerleader for this blog has been my mom. And when I tell her about a recent spa experience or the newest skincare treatment, she’s never jealous and always supportive. So when the PR team for Karma by Erwin Gomez reached out offering complimentary services, I decided to pay it forward and let me mom take my place. There aren’t enough beauty products and spa treatments in the world to thank my mom for all the free laundry service and home-cooked meals she’s provided me with so this is just a small token of my appreciation for her.
Karma scheduled the ultimate day of pampering as an early Mother’s Day gift for my mom with a haircut, highlights and blow dry/style. She was actually reunited her with one of Karma’s leading hair artist, Peggy Ioakim, who happens to be my mom’s former (and favorite) stylist and fellow Greek friend (she knows my mom’s naturally curly hair like no one else). Peggy specializes in evening looks for high-end events and weddings at Karma (she’s garnered a long list of celebrity clientele including Claire Danes, Kate Walsh and Ashley Judd to name a few). Peggy turned my mom’s ‘do in to pretty highlighted tresses. Managing naturally curly hair isn’t easy so Peggy used a curling iron after her blow dry to tame those frizzy locks.
