Tomorrow I will be bathing suit bound and I can’t wait! This weekend I’m going to soak up the Ft. Lauderdale sun and I won’t have to think about shoveling my sidewalk or digging out my car from so much snow. Yesterday I went to CVS to pick up some last minute essentials for my trip (you know, as if I don’t have any beauty products at home or anything). I’m trying to pack a small suitcase so I don’t have to check any luggage so that 3 fl oz. rule is lingering over me as I prepare for my trip. Here are some drugstore essentials I’ll be taking with me:
Simple Face Care Starter Kit: I religiously use their facial wipes but I realized my beloved luxe cleanser and moisturizer probably wouldn’t make it on the plane, so I purchased this trio: Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, Cleansing Wipes and Replenishing Rich Moisturizer; all under 3 fl. oz. (and under $7)! Continue reading “Drugstore Beauty: Travel Hair, Makeup & Skin Essentials”
I’ll admit I was blessed with great skin. My grandmother had beautiful skin so I’d like to think I take after her. The worst of my skin issues happened when I was in middle school (knock on wood) but I was lucky enough to disguise them with side bangs (you know, when side bangs were cool). Anyways, the key to great skin is maintaining it. Eat fruits and veggies that are good for your skin, drink TONS of water, exercise, and stick to a concrete regimen that’s customized around your skin type. Clearasil recently sent me items from their Daily Clear + Superfruit line to try and they couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Little blemishes have been popping up and this line totally came to my rescue.
Anyways, enough preachin’… here’s a peak in to my my skin care routine and how I #WinTheDay with Clearasil (and life in general). Kidding! Kind of.
77:107:207:30AM: I get up for work (you know, after I hit the snooze button three times). I really don’t “wake” up until I wash my face with Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash. It’s a gentle cleanser that smells pretty freaking awesome (the raspberry and cranberry extracts makes it smell like a delicious fruit smoothie). This energizes me for a full day ahead.
1:15PM: I go to yoga every Thursday at work (I know, free yoga classes at work! I’m a lucky girl) so Thursday is really “casual Fridays” (aka yoga pants and a sweatshirt). After class, I like to refresh with Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Pads, which have the same great scent as my cleanser and easily wipe away any oily residue without irritating my skin.
1010:1010:3011PM: Notice a trend here? After I’ve caught up on my favorite reality TV shows, blogged and surfed the internet, I remove my makeup (so important that you do this every night!) and get ready for bed. Depending on the state of my face each week, I’ll exfoliate with Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Scrub. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and the formula doesn’t dry my skin out.
For a limited time, you can try any one of these products (cleanser, scrub or pads) FOR FREE! Just fill out the rebate form by clicking here and your next face wash is on Clearasil.

Lately I have been on a serious eyeshadow palette shopping binge. For Christmas, my sister gifted me with the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (I’m still undecided on whether I like it or love it). To be honest, I’m still trying to wrap my head around why this palette is $52. $52!! Would you ever spend $52 on an eyeshadow palette? I’ve searched for daytime and nighttime tutorials using the palette, watched a bevy of them, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to achieve the look those gorgeous YouTube vloggers are creating. It also doesn’t come with a guide to some example looks, which also kind of pushes my buttons. Plus, the thought of deciding between 12 matte, satin and shimmer shades is overwhelming (especially if you stick to really simple eye makeup routines), so it led me to this round-up for Glitter Guide: pretty (and simple) drugstore eyeshadow palettes for a fraction of the price. The eyeshadows I picked up at Walmart and CVS were actually pretty phenomenal. Most of them didn’t crease (as long as you use the right primer) and they were all easy to blend (just invest in some nice brushes). You can read the full story here. What do you think about the Urban Decay Naked 3? Do you prefer eyeshadow trios and quads? Discuss.
As much as I love to splurge on lux beauty buys, there is nothing like scooping up a bevy of makeup, hair and nail products at the drugstore that are chic and cheap. Who says little price points can’t deliver big results? Check out my latest article on Glitter Guide on the eight top-notch fall drugstore beauty buys that will totally get you some bang for your buck. Have you tried these goodies yet? I’d love to hear what you think!
If I had a nickel for every time a co-worker asked me for a nail file, I’d own at least three Chanel eyelash curlers (that’s my equivalent to hitting the beauty jackpot). But hey, someone has to be the responsible one. I’ve rounded up nine office beauty essentials to keep on your desk, that will not only give you some bang for your buck, but will totally score some brownie points with your boss and co-workers.
Almay Intense i-color Bold Nudes ($8.29)—If you’re guilty of hitting the snooze button more than twice, then chances are slim you’ve got time to do your makeup in the morning. This eye shadow trio solves your makeup-less conundrum.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($5.49)—I feel naked without mascara, which is why I couldn’t go without purchasing this iconic tube. It’s ideal for on-the-go touch-ups and simply put, another essential you’ll want to keep in your drawer for any occasion.
Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Bronzer ($15.49)—I consider this my drugstore splurge but I swear, it’s worth every penny and here’s why: a compact matte bronzer plus brush and mirror will make it a super easy on-the-go application.
Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets ($4.99)—Avoid the tissues and bathroom paper towels—these portable sheets will absorb any excess oil and won’t smudge makeup.
Spoiled by Wet n’ Wild Clear Nail Polish ($1.99)—A double duty lifesaver, swipe on a coat before a meeting with an important client or, a quick fix for any run in your stockings.
Trim Emery Boards (Pack of 10, $1.87)—Buy these in bulk, because chances are, a co-worker will borrow it and never return it. Lesson learned.
Travel size Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer (.99)—No one likes to shake hands with someone who has dry (or sweaty) hands. This moisturizer is a mini-multitasker that will revive dry, itchy skin.
Vaseline Lip Therapy ($2.19)—Work office temperatures can often be hot and dry. Vaseline instantly softens and soothes dry lips and offers a hint of shine.
Revlon hair brush ($5.79)—Stressful work situations typically merit the usual “I want to pull my hair out” reaction. Avoid trying to detangle with your fingers and use a brush to smooth tresses.
Total cost? $49.92 (including tax!) and worth every penny.
