I’ve had a Sephora gift card in my wallet for some time now and I still have yet to use it—because if you’re a product junkie like me, I want to make sure I only use it on the best beauty goods.
I’ve been browsing the website and putting together my Sephora haul wish list. Readers, maybe you can help? If you’ve tried any of these products, I would love your input on whether it’s worth clicking “add to cart.”
Today is National Shampoo Day (because you know, everything deserves its own awareness day) and I figured it would be a great reason to share a recent history of shampoos I have tried. I’m a shampoo chameleon, really. I rarely commit to a particular brand or type—honestly, I use whatever is in the shower as long as it smells good. But every now and then, I like to see if something works better than what’s in my shower caddy. From detoxifying formulas to sweet scents, I’m sharing the honest truth about these ten on National Shampoo Day.
Last week I went on my first business trip to Boston, MA. I had so much fun while I was there but packing up my beauty products was no easy feat. I made a last ditch effort before my flight to stop at Sephora (their mini beauty product aisle right before you check out is everything) and stock up on a few travel beauty essentials to help save me some serious suitcase real estate.
First and foremost, a travel-size cleanser was at the top of my list. I use the full-size version of Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and I can’t live without it.
Next on my list: Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo& Conditioner. I’m a hair product snob so I don’t trust those freebies already in the hotel bathroom. This tried and true duo smells divine and my hair always feels silky smooth afterward.
I wrote about Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It a while back on the blog and I’m still using it. If there’s one hair product you decide to splurge on before summer is over, it’s this. It’s the perfect alternative when I don’t feel like blow-drying my hair (or if there’s no blow dryer in the hotel). Lately I’ve been opting for all-natural tousled waves but I didn’t want to risk a heavier suitcase by packing my curling iron. Instead, I combined Bumble and Bumble Surf Infusion with Don’t Blow It. It’s the perfect duo for achieving soft, air-dried, natural wavy tresses.
‘Tis the season for air drying hair… and Bumble and Bumble has the first-of-its-kind hair cream you need to pull off a refined look without the hassle of a blow dryer. I’ve always been a fan of air-drying for hair health (and other lazy reasons), but usually my look yields more flyaways than I can count. My hair also tends to lack volume and that silky smooth feeling. “Don’t Blow It,” by Bumble and Bumble enhances texture and adds bounce using a plant-based conditioning blend. Next to my trusty Dryspun Finish Texturizing Spray, this has become my second most-used hair styling products in my hair routine. After towel-drying my hair, I apply about a dime-sized amount and work through evenly from roots to ends. This is the best product for air drying hair. If you’re not ready to commit to the full-size $30 price, you can scoop up a travel-size for $14.

I’ve been growing my hair out for my wedding in November and let me just say, I’ve learned that maintaining silky smooth tresses is like working a part-time job. The good news is it’s been manageable thanks to a few of my favorite hair products and tools. Read on to find out more about my summer hair essentials…
EcoTools Smoothing Detangler—This lightweight brush not only detangles, but helps manage frizz and static flyaways. I use this when styling my bangs (I brush side to side so my bangs lay flat and fit the frame of my forehead). I also like to use this for a sleek and straight blowout.
EcoTools Full Volume Styler—My hair has always lacked in the volume department, and this brush gives me that little extra oomph I need. It has an aerodynamic Eco-Vent design that allows for faster drying time and less heat damage.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Full Foam Mousse—I love this cushiony crème formula that gives the illusion that I have thick hair. A little goes a long way, I work the product through damp hair and my hair always feels so soft after blow drying.
Redken Guts 10—With DC humidity in full force, I’ve been spritzing my hair with this best-selling spray to control flyaways and keep my hair in check. I’ve always been picky about hair spray but this offers control without any sticky residue. If you don’t want to commit to the $18 bottle, Ulta sells a travel-size version for $8.50.
