If you watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday like me, you had two thoughts: I need to go to the gym (stat) and every model’s hair is literally perfection.
Surprisingly, the hair was probably the least complicated aspect of the angels pre-show grooming, thanks to one hero tool: the Beachwaver. Unlike traditional curling irons, the Beachwaver rotates in either direction (push a button for left or right and then Go to start curling) and all you have to do is hold on tight. The ceramic barrel won’t damage your hair and you can make the curls as loose or tight as you want.
The models’ look is super easy to achieve at home. I start by letting my hair air dry with a bit of oil (I like Dove Elixir Oil) combed through. Then I use the Beachwaver to create loose waves all around my head with varying quantities of hair (this is key to keep the look natural). To finish, I’ll spritz a few drops of a salt spray into my hands, rub together to warm, then flip my head over and scrunch my hair while running my fingers through the curls to loosen them a bit more.

Today is National Shampoo Day (because you know, everything deserves its own awareness day) and I figured it would be a great reason to share a recent history of shampoos I have tried. I’m a shampoo chameleon, really. I rarely commit to a particular brand or type—honestly, I use whatever is in the shower as long as it smells good. But every now and then, I like to see if something works better than what’s in my shower caddy. From detoxifying formulas to sweet scents, I’m sharing the honest truth about these ten on National Shampoo Day.
It’s been a while since I shared my favorite hair products. Much like my recent post on fall makeup favorites, there are a few different products that I rely on for soft, voluminous tresses. From a detangling mist to a thickening mousse, I’ve rounded up my favorite hair products for achieving healthy, soft tresses that I think you’ll like too!
I first fell in love with Ouai (a line of luxe haircare products by celebrity stylist Jen Atkin) when I got my hands on its Wave Spray. And now, I’m equally obsessed with Ouai Finishing Crème, a lightweight hair cream that protects from heat styling, smooths dry ends and gives fine to medium hair that lived-in look. The scent is not overbearing (at first I smell melted butter and then as time goes on, a light floral scent… but if you read the reviews, you’ll see other comparisons) and does its job in maintaining smoothing flyaways and giving strands a piece-y second day hair look. I’ve been using my flat iron a little too often this summer (lately I’ve been obsessed with smooth and sleek hair) and yet this is the only product I’ve relied on because of its staying power. Just know that a little goes a long way—a dime-sized amount applied to ends gives a lived-in look with just a little bit of shine. The line itself is pretty pricey but if you’re using heat styling products on a frequent basis or constantly battling flyaways, then Ouai Finishing Creme is worth every penny.
