I don’t consider myself to be a hair connoisseur (I leave that up to Ismail at George Salon at The Four Seasons), but when it comes to treating your tresses, I consider myself a pro. No, I’m not talking about your typical trifecta (shampoo, conditioner and styling creams). I’m talking about food!

Here, a look at some surprising (and not-so-surprising) foods that will do your hair some good:

I try and eat spinach as often as possible. Packed with vitamins A and C, you need this to produce sebum, an oily substance secreted by your hair follicles. And according to WebMD, this is your natural hair conditioner.

Eat salmon on a weekly basis to give hair a shiny and healthy look. Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B-12 and iron, this is a must-eat.
