All About Eye Kits

From top: Christian Dior Eye Essentials Kit, $59; Benefit Cosmetics Peek-a-Bright eye illuminating kit, $32; Almay Intense Smoky-i Kit, $7.

Aside from a few of my favorite singular eyeshadow staples, I live for mini eye makeup kits. Mainly because, I’m no pro when it comes to creating sultry eyes. Inspiration for this post came when I received a little package from Benefit Cosmetics and the August launch of its Peek-a-Bright eye kit. Most eye kits pack at least three shadows, a mini brush and a compact mirror; a makeup trifecta for those on-the-go and like to live by the basics. This kit is all about illuminating your eyes so they included a pearly pink highlighter and a concealer mini brush, not to mention a tips n’ tricks tutorial for beginners. For the more eye-advanced, try Dior’s Eye Essentials kit which packs five shadows, two eyeshadow brushes and even a mini mascara for those classic Dior show stopping lashes. And of course, a budget friendly favorite: Almay Intense Smoky-i Kit, available in three finishes for every eye color. What’s your favorite eye kit?

Drugstore Dash: Physicians Formula Multi-Colored Bronzer Palette

It’s hard these days to find a bronzer without any shimmer. And after interviewing Meg Biram on her favorite makeup products, she mentioned how she’s been using Physicians Formula bronzer since college. And perfect timing because it just so happened I had a $1 off coupon on any product from the line (don’t judge, I love me some coupons!).

I could meander through the cosmetic aisle just about all day and after some serious contemplation, I ended up buying the powder palette multi-colored bronzer for all skin types (unfortunately, I didn’t see any left of the bronzer for fair skin tones). What I love about this bronzer is the palette mix and compact shape, not to mention easy to travel with. Leaving a matte finish, I was more than happy with this bronzer, since I like to maintain a natural glow for a day look. It comes with a mini brush and while that was the first thing I applied it with, I ended up going back to my bulky Clinique bronzer brush because let’s face it: the mini brush they packed with this is no bronzer brush. Tapping the brush before you apply is imperative, and if you intend on using the brush they pack under the palette, then I suggest you tap it twice.

I’m so excited to share with you my first (and definitely not last!) YouTube video featuring a handful of new and recently purchased products that I just can’t get enough of. Whether you’re a vegetarian makeup maven or a lipstick hoarder, I love that all of these beauty picks can be worn now and later. I’d love to hear what you think! Oh, and a small disclaimer: I was not a broadcast journalism major, so don’t be too harsh on me!
