What’s the secret to big, bright eyes? The answer might already be in your makeup bag. Over the years, I’ve picked up various tips and tricks to help brighten, illuminate and make my eyes appear bigger than they actually are. Thanks to some hero beauty products, here are seven makeup tips to make small eyes look bigger.
I’ve always been a creature of habit. When I go to the grocery store, I buy the same ruffles potato chips. Before I leave for work in the morning, I enjoy a bowl of cereal while I scroll through my Facebook newsfeed. And when it comes to my eye makeup routine, I rotate the same two eyeliners. (In case you’re wondering, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner in black and Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Eyeliner in Lucky Penny.)
This dark-green eyed girl can always depend on those two shades. But for once, I needed a changeup.
If you saw my IG story this past weekend, then you saw I went on a little Ulta haul. I came in for a couple lip liners and walked out with Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Tetra—a shimmering eggplant purple.
Being a makeup junkie, my ideal eyeliner is highly pigmented, long-wearing and easy to apply. This Stila Smudge Stick fits all of my requirements.
What I love about this eyeliner is that I have 20-30 seconds to smudge to my liking before it sets, so if I’m not in the mood for a fancy eye, this liner will double as color on my lids. And I’m obsessed with the color. The metallic hue really makes my eyes pop when I apply it on my upper and lower lash line. And because it’s a dark purple, it works for day or night. But be warned—this eyeliner doesn’t retract so be careful not to twist out too much product.
The verdict: $22 very well spent.
Shopping tip: It’s currently out of stock at Sephora but you can scoop up this shade on Ulta.com.
